Sediment Management
For a former wood treating site in Michigan, Mr. Palmerton
managed an RI/FS, which included evaluation of groundwater impacts,
recovery of NAPL and dissolved phase constituents, and evaluation of
potential creosote impacts on sediments and fish. The operation of the
collection system was shown to be effective in reducing impacts to sediments
and fish. Fish consumption advisories were lifted in the adjacent river
and remedial actions were undertaken for the removal of a small volume
of sediments from a small tributary to the river. The Palmerton Group
assisted with downstream evaluation of creosote impacts on sediment
and negotiations with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality
for sediment removal. |
