Environmental Consulting Group
The Palmerton Group has been involved with projects requiring access to wetland areas and hence wetland permits. Today, almost any linear construction project (pipelines, electric lines, fiber optic lines) will likely involve wetlands areas. Natural gas drilling in the Marcellus Shale in remote locations has also expanded the need for mats. Thus, the destruction of wetland areas during ingress and egress, and the mitigation after, are key concerns to the contractor.
Mats are often required to protect environmentally sensitive areas. A variety of mat types are available depending upon the application including Crane Mats/Dragline Mats and Laminated Mats.
Heavy duty crane mats are constructed from 8x8 hardwood timbers bolted together with 1 inch steel rods. Standard size is 4x16 feet, but other sizes can be custom built to order. Mats can be manufactured with various lifting options such as exposed bolt, cables or chains to meet your specifications.
Laminated mats are typically 8x14 feet and manufactured with a three-ply layer of 1.5"x8" hardwood planks, bolted together with carriage bolts.
New and used mats are available for sale or rental. Delivery, installation, and removal services are available for mat rentals.
